Lighting Charlotte
neighborhood by neighborhood.

Charlotte is not one lighting job. It is a dozen different ones on the same map. The tree canopy over Myers Park and Dilworth asks for a completely different design than the long two-story rooflines around SouthPark, Foxcroft, Quail Hollow, and Piper Glen, and neither of those is how you light a storefront in NoDa or a condo frontage Uptown. We design to the street, not to a catalogue.

In the older neighborhoods the trees are the point. Myers Park, Dilworth, and Eastover sit under a mature oak and willow canopy, and a roofline outlined on its own can simply disappear beneath it. Trunk wraps up the drive and canopy lighting through the front-yard trees are what turn an outlined house into a lit property. The architecture asks for restraint too: warm classic lines, one color temperature, clips fitted to period trim rather than forced onto it. Nothing animated, nothing that fights a century-old canopy.

On the larger South Charlotte lots (SouthPark, Foxcroft, Quail Hollow, Piper Glen, and out through Providence and Blakeney), there is simply more roofline per house, and that is where a permanent LED system usually wins. The strips sit inside the fascia channel and are invisible in daylight, so the house looks exactly the same to the street and to the HOA. At night you pick the scene from your phone: Christmas in December, orange in October, warm white the rest of the year. Sixteen million colors, a 25-year warranty, and no ladder in the garage.

Closer in, Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood, and NoDa put houses and street-facing business frontage on the same block, so a December schedule there mixes homes, storefronts, and patios, and we scope the commercial side around business hours so nothing blocks a doorway. Uptown and Fourth Ward run to condo and office frontage and HOA entrances. Out north and west, University City and Steele Creek are the newer-construction side of the city: clean, consistent rooflines that outline fast and read beautifully from the road.

Neighborhoods we light in Charlotte

South Charlotte holds the widest range of architecture in the city: Myers Park, Dilworth, SouthPark, Eastover, Foxcroft, Cotswold, Providence, Quail Hollow, Piper Glen, Blakeney, and Ballantyne. The older streets get warm classic lines hand-fitted to period trim, plus the canopy work the oaks demand. The larger and newer elevations get long, evenly spaced roofline runs, and they are the strongest candidates for a permanent LED system, because once the track is in, the roofline is done for twenty-five years.

The central corridor (Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood, NoDa, Uptown, and Fourth Ward) is denser and more mixed. Rooflines sit lower and closer together, frontage is often commercial, and access matters as much as design: parking, business hours, shared entrances, building management. Garland, wreaths, and warm roofline runs suit that architecture better than anything animated, and storefront, patio, condo, and office frontage is quoted exactly the way a house is.

University City and Steele Creek are the newer-construction side of Charlotte. Simple, consistent rooflines and clean fascia make for fast, precise installs, and because the houses are newer the permanent LED track goes in without the surprises an older home can hide. Townhome and new-build streets out that way tend to want one look repeated well rather than five different ideas competing, which is exactly what a matched design is for.

Charlotte questions

All of them. We install across South Charlotte (Myers Park, Dilworth, SouthPark, Eastover, Foxcroft, Cotswold, Providence, Quail Hollow, Piper Glen, Blakeney, and Ballantyne), through the central corridor of Elizabeth, Plaza Midwood, NoDa, Uptown, and Fourth Ward, and out to Steele Creek and University City. If you are not sure whether your street is covered, call (704) 326-2024 and we will tell you straight.

Earlier than you think. Our install calendar fills before Thanksgiving, and the largest Charlotte rooflines get scheduled first because they take the most crew time. Booking a free consultation in early fall locks in your date. Permanent LED systems are different. We install those year-round, so the off-season is actually the easiest time to get on the schedule.

It depends on the size of the roofline and the scope of the display. Most residential seasonal installations run from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Permanent LED systems are quoted by linear roofline footage. Either way the on-site design consultation is free and there is no obligation.

Yes. Takedown and storage are included in every seasonal Christmas light package. We schedule removal after the holidays and store your lights until next season, so you never touch a ladder.

Usually, yes. The LED track mounts inside the fascia or roofline channel and is finished to match your trim, so in daylight the house looks exactly as it did before: nothing hanging, no visible cord. On older Charlotte homes we walk the elevation with you first and confirm the run before anything is ordered. If your street sits inside a local historic district, exterior changes can need approval from the city or your neighborhood association, so we flag that at the consultation. Permanent systems install year-round, so there is no seasonal rush.

Yes. Storefronts, patios, office and condo frontage, HOA common areas, clubhouses, and entrance monuments are quoted the same way as homes: a free on-site design consultation, then a fixed price. We scope commercial work around business hours so an install never blocks a doorway in December, and one point of contact handles the whole property.

Yes, and in Charlotte it matters more than most places. The mature oak and willow canopy over Myers Park, Dilworth, and Eastover is the signature of those streets, so trunk wraps and canopy lighting often do as much work as the roofline itself. We size the wraps to the trunk and match the color temperature to the house so the whole property reads as one design rather than two.
