Christmas Light Installation in Plaza Midwood, Charlotte NC

Brick bungalow, flat-roofed rebuild, porch cottage. Three houses in a row here rarely agree on anything, and the lighting has to hold that together rather than flatten it. We design to the elevation in front of us, on city lots and shopfronts alike.

Free on-site design consultation, no obligation.

Lighting Plaza Midwood
for the holidays.

Two houses side by side in Plaza Midwood will rarely agree on anything (a brick bungalow next to a flat-roofed rebuild next to a cottage with a porch swing), and a good display holds that together instead of flattening it. So we design to the elevation in front of us. A house with period trim gets a warm classic line hand-fitted to what is already there, with clips sized to the molding rather than forced onto it. The sharper modern rebuilds take a tighter run along one clean edge and nothing else.

These are city lots. Houses sit near the sidewalk, driveways are short, and the front-yard trees are mature enough to swallow an outlined roof if the design pretends they are not there, so trunk wraps and a little canopy work usually do as much as the eave line does. Rooflines are lower and closer together than they are in south Charlotte, and access is a genuine constraint: a ladder has to fit between two houses before anything gets hung, which is the sort of thing we settle on the walk-through rather than on install day.

Then there is the corridor. Central Avenue and The Plaza put restaurants, shops, and patios on the same streets as the houses, so a December week here mixes homes and business frontage without much of a gap between them. Storefront runs, awnings, and patio work get scoped around trading hours so a ladder never lands in a doorway. On either side of that line a permanent LED run is the quiet answer: seated inside the fascia, invisible by day, and on your phone at night for Christmas, for a game, or for plain warm white the rest of the year. Sixteen million colors and a 25-year warranty.

What we install in Plaza Midwood

Christmas Light Displays

Seasonal displays hand-fitted to the house in front of us: eave lines, porch roofs, dormers, gables, and columns in commercial-grade weatherproof product, with clips sized to period trim rather than forced onto it. Permanent LED Roofline Lighting

Architectural LED strips seated inside the roofline channel and finished to match your trim, so the house looks untouched in daylight. Sixteen million colors, programmable scenes for every holiday, and a 25-year warranty, controlled entirely from your phone.

Trees, Wreaths & Garland

Trunk wraps and canopy lighting for the mature front-yard trees that define these blocks, plus wreaths, garland, and porch details. On a city lot the trees are half the display, so they are matched to the roofline in color temperature and scale.

Commercial & HOA

Shopfronts, restaurant and patio frontage, awnings, and shared entrances along the Central Avenue corridor, plus building common areas and entrance monuments. Scoped around trading hours so nothing blocks a doorway in December.

Streets and shopfronts we light in Plaza Midwood

The bungalow streets are the character of the place, and they reward restraint. Period trim, deep porches, and low single-story rooflines take a warm classic line better than anything animated, and because the houses sit close together a display reads as part of a block rather than as one house shouting. One color temperature across an elevation, even spacing, and clips fitted to the molding. That is the whole method, and it is why an older house here can look better lit than a much larger new one.

The Central Avenue and The Plaza frontage is the other half of the job. Shops, restaurants, and patios sit in the middle of the residential grid, so access has to be designed as carefully as the lighting: parking, trading hours, shared entrances, building management. Storefront, patio, and awning work is quoted exactly the way a house is, and a permanent LED line along the frontage means the business is lit in February as easily as in December.

The neighborhoods either side share the pattern. NoDa to the north has the same mix of small-lot bungalows and street-facing business frontage; Elizabeth and Dilworth to the south run to older streets under a heavier canopy, where the trees carry more of the display; Cotswold to the east opens onto larger lots and longer rooflines. Same crew and the same design process across all of them.

Plaza Midwood questions

Yes. We install throughout Plaza Midwood, on the bungalow streets and along the Central Avenue and The Plaza frontage, plus the neighboring NoDa, Elizabeth, Dilworth, and Cotswold areas. If you are not sure whether your street is covered, call (704) 326-2024 and we will tell you straight.

Earlier than you think. Our install calendar fills before Thanksgiving, and tight city lots take planning rather than raw crew hours, so the walk-through wants to happen well before December. Booking a free consultation in early fall locks in your date. Permanent LED systems are different. We install those year-round, so the off-season is actually the easiest time to get on the schedule.

It depends on the size of the roofline and the scope of the display. Most residential seasonal installations run from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. Permanent LED systems are quoted by linear roofline footage. Either way the on-site design consultation is free and there is no obligation.

Yes. Takedown and storage are included in every seasonal Christmas light package. We schedule removal after the holidays and store your lights until next season, so you never touch a ladder.

Yes, and it is how we prefer to work. Seasonal clips are sized to the molding that is already there rather than forced onto it, and on a permanent system the LED track mounts inside the fascia or roofline channel and is finished to match your trim, so in daylight the house looks exactly as it did before. We walk the elevation with you first and confirm the run before anything is ordered. If your street sits inside a local historic district, exterior changes can need approval from the city or your neighborhood association, so we flag that at the consultation.
